El entonces nuevo proceso de autotype, variante de collotype ó fototipia, dar imagenes altamente nítidos. El 'Cook' del título es la famosa agencia de viajes Thomas Cook, fundado en 1841. Son los inventores de travellers´cheques y del 'package holiday' aqui descrito por primera vez. Stone lo recomienda sin dudar: 'There are thousands of tourists yearly who spend a few weeks' holiday on the Continent, who, having but a slight knowledge of Continental travelling arrangements...are not indifferent to the conveniences...of an organized contract system'.
