Resist and Masking Techniques - Peter Beard

The techniques of resist and masking, used in the making of ceramics, can produce interesting results. The use of wax, paper, clay and other materials to prevent the effects of heat, fire, smoke, chemical reactions, colours and glazes from altering or contaminating the surface of a piece requires a long learning process, often complicated by considerations of the state of the clay or which form of glazing is to be used.
