A fantastic violin by Leon Mougenot Gauche with a powerful and robust sound. Léon Mougenot first learned violin making under Émile Laurent, and later apprenticed with his father's cousin Georges in Brussels from 1887 to 1894. Mougenot returned to France, working in Lyon and Paris and later at the London firm of W.E. Hill & Sons. In 1899 he finally returned to his hometown of Mirecourt, where he set up a shop that trained over 65 French .
