Maravilloso set de porcelana Satsuma compuesto por un servicio de tetera, lechera y azucarero, y cuatro puestos de taza y plato, todo en un azul lapislázuli intenso. La porcelana satsuma se realiza a lo largo del Periodo Meiji comprendido entre 1868 y 1912 en Japón.

Se trata de un exquisito conjunto realizado con una refinada técnica, ya que la pasta empleada tiene un grosor casi de cáscara de huevo, tanto, que tiende a ser traslúcida. Los patrones populares originalmente de la porcelana satsuma incluyen diseños florales y geométricos. Sin embargo, a partir del siglo XIX, la temática se amplió incluyendo paisajes, escenas costumbristas y mitológicas, y las decoraciones con esmalte y oro, como es en este caso.

El motivo del ornamento es el dragón, que se repite en cada pieza, ser mitológico de gran arraigo en la cultura oriental, símbolo de poder, nobleza y honor. Lo más maravilloso de este conjunto es que las asas son el cuerpo del dragón, y la boquilla es la cabeza del mismo, por donde sale el líquido. Además, el color azul intenso solo se ha conseguido utilizando el pigmento lapislázuli, uno de los más difíciles de conseguir.

El ornamento se completa con la policromía y el esmaltado a mano, consiguiendo a través del mismo un relieve. Los colores vivos y elegantes son potenciados con el dorado. Cada pieza tiene un sello en la base.
